At 2:46 pm Ladder 95 and Engine 95 were dispatched on the initial mutual aid to assist Company 5, Oley Fire Company at a possible structure fire in the 100 block of Ruppert School Road in Pike Twp. The caller was a neighbor reporting hearing explosions and screams and seeing a lot of smoke. As units were responding Chief 5 reported heavy smoke upon approach and requested additional tankers and then immediately a 2nd alarm which dispatched Tanker 95 to the scene. Chief 5 arrived and reported a vehicle and 3 buildings well involved with access issues to the property due to a long narrow driveway. Engines arrived and laid supply lines in the long driveway followed by Ladder 95. The ladder was directed to go past the address to the next residence and access off that driveway and get as close to the scene as possible. The ladder went in the tight driveway and backed up across a field to the tree line to setup the main. Eastern Berks Engine 97-1 arrived and laid a 5” supply line to Ladder 95. Engine 95 arrived and assisted in setting up a water supply and drafted from a portable pond setup and fed the two engines in the driveway. Crews assisted in fire attack and the ladder pipe was flowed to assist in knocking down the fire in the buildings. Crews were rotated due to the high air temperature and humidity and after a thorough overall the units were released and available at 5:17 pm. Great job to all the companies working at the incident in preventing the fire from spreading to the residence which was also in close proximity.
