At 2150 hours on Sunday June 7, 2020 Boyertown Area Fire & Rescue was dispatched for a two vehicle crash with entrapment and fire in front of 2182 Farmington Avenue in Douglass Township. On arrival Douglass Police advised that the occupants in both vehicles were heavily entrapped and one vehicle was smoking. Crews arrived and extinguished the area that was smoking while others went to work on both vehicles simultaneously beginning the rescue. Firefighters worked closely with medics from Boyertown Ambulance and Gilbertsville Ambulance as they peeled the vehicles off of the occupants. Both occupants were extricated and turned over to the Medics. Another crew from BAF&R were setting up a landing zone for two helicopters to land near the Boyertown Ambulance building in Boyertown to fly the occupants to local Trauma Centers. One occupant went to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest and the other was flown to Reading Hospital Trauma Center, conditions unknown.
Douglass Police are investigating the crash and were assisted by Amity Police and the Pa State Police Reconstruction Unit.
Crews cleared the scene after the vehicles were removed by Douglassville Auto Body just before 0300 Hours Monday Morning.
