THIS POST WAS REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY DEPUTY CHIEF 19 PRIOR TO BEING PUBLISHED BECAUSE OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH EARL FIRE COMPANY IS THAT IMPORTANT, THANKS AND I HOPE EVERYONE READING THIS POST UNDERSTANDS IT’S ABOUT BROTHERHOOD.
At 10:30 am Company 95 was dispatched to assist Birdsboro Fire Company with a structural collapse of a building after a motor vehicle crash. It was reported that the truck involved was holding up part of the building. As we were arriving we received notes that the vehicle involved was an Earl Township Fire Company vehicle which concerned everyone in our vehicle wondering if the driver was okay.
On arrival the team went to work and calculated what needed to be done to support the structure so the vehicle could be removed. We worked with Birdsboro Firefighters to get 2 struts in place to carry the load of the structure when the truck was removed and Deputy Chief 19 was on location and he assisted us with removing the truck from the building. Berksmont Towing removed the truck and then crews constructed a support in the center of the 2 struts to carry the load of the building until a contractor will be able to repair the structure.
The type of crash made us aware that this was most likely do to a medical emergency and that was confirmed to us on scene and we did not have good news to travel home with. We had been told the driver was in serious condition at the time so it was a long quiet ride home to Station 95.
BAF&R agrees with Deputy Chief 19, equipment can be replaced, our members are the most important asset we have.
Our thoughts and prayers to that Firefighter and all the members of Station 19.
As of today we have been notified by Station 19 that the Firefighter is home recovering.
