12/11/2020, Structure Fire, Pine Forge Road, Douglass Twp.
At 13:30 hours, Station 95 was dispatched for multiple apparatus on the initial assignment to assist Company 49, Amity in Douglass Berks Township in the 100 block of Pine Forge Road for a structure fire. Caller reports flames and smoke visible from the doors and windows of the residence. Douglass Police arrived reporting a working wire with heavy fire showing and also reported all occupants out although there were still pets inside on the second floor. Ladder 95 responded first from Station 95 and arrived and personnel were requested to pull pre-connect lines from Engine 49 and perform an interior attack. The Ladder 95 operator was requested to operate Quint 6 since there was limited manpower on the initial attack.
As more personnel arrived multiple tasks were performed assisting in fire attack, search, and overhaul. Unfortunately the canine was found deceased on the second floor by our personnel and was removed and they assisted the homeowner with taking care of the dog. After extensive overhaul the company was placed available from the scene and returned at 16:33 hours, 3 hours after the dispatch.
During this call our company was also dispatched and handled a medical assist in the Borough of Boyertown with some personnel that remained in the area. Our prayers go out to the family for the loss of their pet and thanks to New Hanover Fire & Rescue for relocating and covering our first due while we operated at this fire.
