Company 95 was dispatched at 2121 hours for a structure fire at 133 Sawmill Road in Colebrookdale Township. Chief 95 was notified that Eastern Berks Regional Police on location were reporting a working fire. Chief 95 made the appropriate upgrade to the assignment as he was arriving on location when notified. Crews quickly knocked down the fire and worked on limiting exposure to the inside of the residences. The fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office but it appears that it may have been due to a malfunctioning kerosene heater that flared up inside the apartment and was then carried outside to a breezeway area between the main house and the apartment where it flared up causing a scooter and bicycle to ignite as well as the exterior of the structure.
The fire was under control in approximately fifteen to twenty minutes and overhaul was completed by 2245 hours when the scene was turned over to the homeowners and Moyer’s reconstruction services.
Thanks to Eastern Berks Regional Police, Earl Township Fire, Eastern Berks Fire, Gilbertsville Fire, New Hanover Fire and Boyertown Ambulance.
