Company 95 was dispatched at 6:53 am for a 2 vehicle crash with injuries at Funk Road and West Philadelphia Avenue. While responding the call was upgraded to a rescue with entrapment. On arrival crews found two vehicles, one on it’s side laying on the West corner of the intersection and down the embankment. The utility pole on that corner was snapped in half and hanging on the wires. Crews immediately went to work on the van laying on it’s side to rescue the driver who was lying on the driver’s door and unable to be extricated. Crews cut off the roof of the van and removed the driver through that opening and turned her over to EMS from Gilbertsville Ambulance. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital by Bally Ambulance.
Colebrookdale Police were assisted by Boyertown Police and Douglass Berks Police. Rt. 73 was shut down for over an hour to get the scene cleared up.
Fire Police from several neighboring Companies assisted BAF&R.
The scene was turned over to Met Ed and Windstream to make repairs to the pole and wires.
