At 02:48 hours after running two other calls over the last couple hours including an exterior trash can fire and a medical assist call, Ladder 95 was dispatched on mutual automatic aid to assist Montgomery County Station 67 on a structure fire in the 100 block of Swamp Creek Road in Douglass Twp. Montgomery County. Chief 67 and police arrived and reported a working fire with flames from the structure. This fire would be challenging as it was also reported to be secluded off the roadway across Swamp Creek waterway with the only access being a foot bridge with no railings. Ladder 95 arrived as the crew from Engine 67 was stretching a 2-1/2” line across the bridge. Crews assisted with another line stretch and initial attack. Engine 95 was requested to also respond with additional manpower. Due to the limited access and additional lines required as the fire progressed through the frame dwelling a suggestion was made to see if Ladder 95 could span the stream and use the ladder pipe with a wye and run lines off the end. The main was extended and dropped to the ground across the stream. The high-rise pack from Engine 95 was used and more lines were fed using the aerial waterway to the scene. After a long overhaul the company was released and went available at 07:17 hours. Good teamwork and decision making by personnel to overcome obstacles.
